Research Coordinator Training Program
Summer session for the three-day course Fundamentals for
the Research Coordinator will be held 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.,
Wednesday, June 22, to Friday, June 24.
The course provides a comprehensive overview of the
core competencies needed to administer and direct human
subject research projects. Topics include IRB, recruiting,
data management, informed consent and study
administration.

Volunteer Readers Needed
JHHS Community Services is sponsoring a reading event at
William Paca Elementary School in East Baltimore from 8:30
to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 19.
Faculty, students and staff are invited to volunteer
to read to the children. Transportation from the East
Baltimore medical campus and reading materials will be
provided.

The Great Neighborhood Bike Ride
A bike tour with routes of 13, 20 or 50 miles through
interesting Baltimore neighborhoods is scheduled for
Sunday, June 5. Sponsored by the Women's Housing Coalition,
the tour begins with registration at 7 a.m. on Garland
Field, Homewood campus.

Sports Volunteers Needed
The Johns Hopkins' Sports Clinic, for children in grades
three through five (ages 8 to 12) from the area around the
East Baltimore campus will be held on Saturdays, May 14, 21
and 28, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (with registration from
8:30 to 9 a.m. on the first day) at 1620 McElderry St.,
next to the tennis court.
Each day, participants will attend two of eight
different stations--basketball, volleyball, ultimate
Frisbee, softball, tennis, football, soccer and track--and
will receive instruction in sportsmanship and teamwork as
well as in the activities. Johns Hopkins participants are

ESL Summer Intensive
Johns Hopkins is offering a summer intensive course in
English as a Second Language. The program runs from July 5
through Aug. 6. The registration deadline is June 24. The
full immersion program includes classes in Strengthening
Oral Communication, Reading and Writing English, American
Culture, TOEFL Prep and English for Medical Professionals.
Tuition for the full immersion program is $2,300. To
