Procter & Gamble CEO to Receive AICGS
Award
A.G. Lafley, chairman of the board, president and CEO
of Procter & Gamble, will be honored on Thursday, Jan. 13,
in New York with the Global Leadership Award, annually
presented by the Johns Hopkins
American Institute for
Contemporary German Studies. Lafley is being recognized
for his outstanding contributions to the advancement of
German-American relations.
Jackson Janes, executive director of AICGS, said that
at a time when many American business leaders view
investing in Germany as difficult because of high prices,
perceived trouble with unions and other concerns, Lafley
made a significant investment with the acquisition of
Wella, a German cosmetic giant, in 2004. More than 350
political and business leaders, including the German
Ambassador to the United States, Wolfgang Ischinger, are
scheduled to attend the event.
