Party Planned for Baltimore Talent Development School

The Third Annual Birthday Party for Baltimore Talent Development High School will be held Friday, Nov. 17, in the Glass Pavilion on the Homewood campus. Operated as a partnership between the Baltimore City Public Schools and the Center for Social Organization of Schools at Johns Hopkins, the high school has more than 400 students in three grades and is one of the city's innovation high schools, housed at Harlem Park Middle School in West Baltimore. It opened in 2004.

The fundraising party, from 6 to 9 p.m., will feature dinner, a silent auction and presentations and performances by students. Proceeds will be used to supplement student activities, such as field trips and cultural experiences, and for technology, resource materials and other enrichment opportunities.

The school was recently featured in USA Today and on NBC Nightly News for its efforts to improve attendance and achievement, and keep students on track for graduation

Tickets are $30/$20 for students. They may be purchased by contacting Nicole Bolling at CSOS, 410-516-5191 or nbolling@csos.jhu.edu. Sponsors are also needed to buy $20 tickets so that students may attend.
