Team '06 in the Batter's Box
Athletes often say they'll hold off on reliving moments
and career accomplishments until after they retire.
Before the first pitch was thrown at last week's
Senior Week Orioles game, The Gazette
sat down with a lineup of soon-to-be-graduates
to ask them: Now that your Hopkins career is
coming to an end, what moment or milestone
will you most reflect on?

"When I decided to change my major
to psychology from biology. I'm very passionate about
helping children, and I've volunteered in pediatric
emergency rooms and after-school programs. I think
psychology gave me an access to medicine, and that has
helped me because now I want to have a career in
pediatrics."

"When I finally made the dean's
list [laughs]. Actually, it was coming here [to this game].
I was at an Orioles game my freshman year with some of my
new friends. And now, what a great way to end my career, at
another Orioles game."

"Putting up a 14-foot-high,
28-foot-wide painted scenic wall with three rotating
elements for a play. I most remember doing that because
nobody thought I could do it. And I did it anyway!"

"Putting up a play I wrote this
past winter. It was very exciting. It was a play I wrote
for an advanced playwriting class, and the Witness Theatre
put it on."

"Coming from New York I thought no
other city would be livable for me, but living in Baltimore
made me learn that I can live elsewhere. Really, I love
Baltimore! I really do."

"Going out for and joining a
sorority [Kappa Kappa Gamma] and then later becoming
president of it. That was a big moment for me. It's been,
overall, the best thing I've done at Hopkins. I have a
million-and-five memories from my time with my
sisters."

"Senior design project. I'm a
mechanical engineering major, and we integrated an
infinitely variable transmission into a wind generator.
Sounds very complicated, but we got it to work."

"When I visited Johns Hopkins, I
was really scared. Everyone says how tough it will be. I
wanted to leave as soon as I got here. And now I'm done and
I walk across campus and I can say, 'I did this.' Hopkins
is not as bad as it seems, and now it's over."
