Bundled-up throngs braved one of Baltimore's first
cold nights to gather together and welcome
the holiday season to the Homewood campus.
The Lighting of the Quads, now in its third year, has
proved to be a crowd-pleaser, as hundreds
of students tumbled Dec. 3 onto the Keyser Quadrangle to
share a night of festivities that included
hearing holiday tunes sung by a cappella groups and played
by the JHU Pep Band; downing some hot
beverages, doughnuts and Christmas-tree cookies; and
cheering on Wendy Brody, wife of President
William R. Brody, as she flipped the switch to illuminate
lampposts that had been artfully wrapped in
lights by the Facilities Management staff.
