Charles Commons Honored
The Association of University Real Estate Officials
has honored Johns Hopkins' Charles
Commons with its 2007 Award of Excellence, which recognizes
a project that has had the greatest
impact on a university. Criteria for the award stipulate
that the project should be innovative and cost-
effective, and a model for others to follow. The award was
accepted for the university and other
project participants by David McDonough, JHU's director of
development oversight, at AUREO's
annual meeting, held Sept. 30 to Oct. 3 in Vancouver,
British Columbia.
Other recent kudos for Charles Commons include the
Multifamily Executive Award in the
Project of the Year, Student Category, and an Honorable
Mention from AIA Baltimore. In April, the
National Association of Homebuilders honored the
residential, dining and retail complex with a 2007
Pillars of the Industry Award, recognizing it as the Best
Student Housing Apartment Rental
Community of the Year.
