Office of Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action Programs Renamed

In keeping with the university's commitment to equity and inclusion, Provost Steven Knapp announced last week that the Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Programs has been renamed the Office of Institutional Equity.

In addition, the titles of three senior staff members have been changed. Ray Gillian, who directs the office, is now vice provost for institutional equity. Peggy Hayeslip is director, ADA compliance and disability services, and Caroline Laguerre-Brown is director, equity and compliance.

Knapp said that these changes reflect the role, scope and actual functions of the office, as well as the importance of these professionals.

More information about the office and the university's policies pertaining to equity are available online at www.jhuaa.org/Sub/resource.asp.
