Colin Powell To Join Dedication of Children's Center Outpatient Facility

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell will join faculty and staff of the Johns Hopkins Children's Center on Thursday, April 26, to celebrate the official dedication of the David M. Rubenstein Child Health Building, a new outpatient facility devoted exclusively to children and adolescent health care.

The state-of-the-art facility, which serves children from the East Baltimore community as well as from around the world, has 15 specialty clinics offering everything from specialty pulmonary services for cystic fibrosis treatment, to nutrition and fitness counseling for overweight children, to legal services and dental care. Rubenstein, a Baltimore native and co-founder of the Carlyle Group, provided $5 million for the building's construction.

The ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. at 200 N. Wolfe St. and will be followed by a reception. An RSVP is required and a Johns Hopkins ID needed at the door. To RSVP, contact Christine Porter at 410-516-5365 or cjanusz1@jhmi.edu.
