Baltimore City Police Commissioner Frederick H. Bealefeld speaks
to reporters in the Charles Village
area about the new Secures gunshot protection system, which uses
sensor technology to pinpoint the
location of gunshots and immediately relay them to the
university's Homewood Communications Center
and then to city police for quick response. The truckload of sand
awaits test firing of weapons. The
safety system, which is installed in an area that includes the
Homewood campus, was donated to Johns
Hopkins by the developer of the technology, Planning Systems Inc.
of Reston, Va. The system is now
live.
