Kimmel Center Opens Residential Pavilion for Patients
and Families

The Hackerman-Patz Patient and Family Pavilion, a new
facility for out-of-town cancer patients
receiving treatment at the Sidney
Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins,
was
dedicated Dec. 5. The 39-room facility, located across from
the Weinberg Building at Orleans Street
and Broadway, includes 29 suites and 10 apartments for
extended stays, with common areas, kitchens,
computers and wireless Internet service. The pavilion was
constructed with support from Willard
Hackerman and Sidney Kimmel, both of whom were present at
the dedication event.
Cutting the ceremonial ribbon are Sarah Hoehlein,
director of residential living at the Kimmel
Center; William Nelson, director of the Kimmel Center;
Willard Hackerman, trustee emeritus of the
university and president and CEO of Whiting-Turner
Contracting; Sidney Kimmel, founder and
chairman of the board of Jones Apparel Group; and Michael
Hibler, senior associate director of
development for the Cancer Center.
