Candido Brown, a senior sociology major, was named Student Employee of the Year at a ceremony held April 8 in Homewood's Glass Pavilion.

Brown received a $1,000 savings bond and various other prizes in recognition of his outstanding service for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. His supervisor, Sharon Dorrian, praised Brown for his outstanding work ethic, initiative, disposition and reliability. Brown also was invited to meet with Mayor Sheila Dixon, who presented him with a Citation from Baltimore City. He later was named Student Employee of the Year for the State of Maryland.

JHU's 17th annual Student Employee of the Year ceremony was part of National Student Employee Appreciation Week, which aims to enhance awareness of student employment and the important role it plays in higher education.

The JHU Employer of the Year for 2008 was Frank Richardson, escort coordinator for Campus Safety and Security.
