Summer Program Offered in Tropical Medicine

The departments of International Health and Molecular
Microbiology and Immunology at the School of Public Health will
offer a new eight-week program, the Summer Institute in Tropical
Medicine and Public Health, from July 10 to Sept. 1. The course
can be taken for academic credit or CME.

The program is designed to provide training in tropical
medicine and related health issues. Through a multidisciplinary
approach to disease, it focuses on the examination of specific
tropical diseases and detailed case studies to stress diagnosis,
treatment and the implementation of preventive and control
measures. The course will also discuss the importance of human
behavior associated with the transmission of infection and of
local perceptions of disease.

For more information, call program coordinator Crystal
Briedis at 614-3959.
