Beginning with summer 1998 courses, the university will no longer limit tuition remission spending to $2,625 per half year.

Employees and their family members will still be limited to taking no more than a part-time course load but may spend their $5,250 in any academic period across the calendar year as long as they maintain part-time status and stay within the spending limits established by the schools.


The 11th annual HERO AIDSWALK Maryland 98, the largest HIV/AIDS fund-raiser in Maryland, will begin at Garland Field on the Homewood campus on Sunday, June 7, at 9 a.m. HERO AIDSWALK Maryland 98 will donate a minimum of 10 percent of the net proceeds from the walk to other AIDS service organizations in the state. People can take part individually, as teams and as business sponsors.

A seminar on the principles and practice of Falun Gong is scheduled for nine days, from Saturday, May 23, through Sunday, May 31.

The free sessions will take place in the Garrett Room of the Milton S. Eisenhower Library from 7 to 9 p.m. Videotaped lectures will be shown each day.

Women can learn how to surf the Internet for feminist resources in a Cyber-Feminist workshop scheduled for Tuesday, May 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Strand Cyber-Cafe.

The workshop, sponsored by the National Organization for Women Baltimore chapter, will cover basic concepts about the Internet, how to get online and use Netscape to navigate around the Web, and how to find feminist Web sites. Some emphasis will be given to learning how to use the Internet to increase feminist activism.

The workshop will be presented by Laura Newman, computer training specialist for the Bayview Medical Center. The deadline for registration for the workshop is Monday, May 11, and space is limited.

Planning for Results: A Practical Approach to Project and Workload Management is a seminar designed to teach managers how to clarify project priorities, manage project costs, complete a project, plan and organize meetings, delegate effectively and practice effective teamwork.

The seminar will take place on Monday, June 8, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the West Room in the Turner Building in East Baltimore.

The Johns Hopkins University Summer Camp program offers five one-week sessions at the Homewood campus. The camp runs from June 15 to July 17 and is intended for children 5 to 12.

While structured activities are planned from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., campers may arrive as early as 8:15 a.m. and leave as late as 5:15 p.m. For more information, call 410-516-7490.


The Johns Hopkins Competitive Tennis Team is looking for individuals to join the summer doubles tennis league.
