"Old Traditions, New Beginnings Influencing Nursing" is the theme of the Johns Hopkins Nurses Alumni Association's education program to be held Friday, June 12, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the new Anne M. Pinkard School of Nursing Building at 525 N. Wolfe St. The program will highlight the diversity of the School of Nursing. The featured speaker will be nurse historian Susan Appling. Cost for the daylong conference is $70, $60 for School of Nursing alumni, $30 for students and $20 for School of Nursing students. Attendance is also worth six Continuing Education units. The annual Hopkins Picnic is scheduled for Thursday, June 18, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at Garland Field on the Homewood campus. The picnic will go on as scheduled, rain or shine. Bring a blanket or chair for comfort. Join the entire Hopkins community--faculty, staff, students, alumni, retirees and families--for food and activities including supervised fun and games for children, volleyball, a gyrospinner, DJ and dance floor, and burgers and hot dogs prepared by--Hopkins "celebrity" grillers. Tickets, which include food and beverages, are $8 for adults, $4 for children 3 to 12 years old (in advance); or $10 for adults, $5 for children 3 to 12 years old (at the gate).
