Security Update ----------------------------------------------------------------- Time to Reclaim Lost Bicycles ----------------------------------------------------------------- Prior to the Intersession, Homewood Security officers brought in a number of unsecured bicycles for safekeeping. Some, however, have yet to be claimed. Anyone who may have misplaced, lost, or has been unable to locate their bicycle on campus--and did not report it--is encouraged to call the Security Office, at 516-4600, between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. To claim your property, be prepared to provide a detailed description of your bicycle, including the date, time and location that you last saw it. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Update on Robberies During the Winter Break ----------------------------------------------------------------- Corporate Security officers at The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions have helped identify the suspect wanted in an armed assault and robbery of a student that occurred at 12:05 p.m. on Jan. 24 off campus in the 800 block of North Rutland Avenue. His arrest will mark the fifth successful collaboration between the university and city police in resolving a robbery of a member of the university during the winter break. Suspects also have been arrested and charged in connection with the following robberies: two Homewood campus students of an ATM card just before 2 a.m. on Jan. 9; a research scientist at an ATM machine at the NationsBank in the 3100 block of St. Paul Street at 12:20 p.m. on Christmas Day; and a JHMI employee at the same ATM machine at 7:50 a.m. on Jan. 31. An arrest also has been made in the armed robbery of the Royal Farm Store at 12 E. 33rd St. on Dec. 30. Hopkins security officers on all campuses recommend using only ATM machines located on campus or those inside well-lit establishments that are open for business. Students and employees are encouraged to remain alert at all times and to pay special attention to any suspicious persons who may be approaching them. Whenever possible, travel with a friend or escort.
