Durrance, HUT To Get Launch Party Sendoff "Let's Do Launch," live, big-screen coverage of the launch of Astro-2, will take place Wednesday, March 1, at the Schafler Auditorium in the Bloomberg Center for Physics and Astronomy on San Martin Drive. Astro-2 is a package of three ultraviolet instruments including the Hopkins Ultraviolet Telescope, built and designed by scientists and engineers at Hopkins and the Applied Physics Laboratory. Sam Durrance, a principal research scientist at Hopkins, will be on the space shuttle Endeavour as a payload specialist during the mission, planned to last 16 days.
