Security Alert

Two robberies have occurred recently at the NationsBank at
3121 St. Paul Street.
At 12:20 p.m. on Christmas Day, a Hopkins employee was using
an ATM machine in the bank's lobby when she was approached from
behind by two assailants. They held her shoulder and then grabbed
her purse. She spun around, and they demanded the money she was
holding, reported by the victim to be in excess of $200. The
victim surrendered her property, and the assailants fled east on
32nd Street. The victim was not injured.
The second incident at the same location occurred between
7:50 and 7:55 a.m. on Dec. 31. The victim, a JHMI employee, was
using the bank machine when a lone male assailant entered the
bank lobby using a card, put his hand into his pocket as if armed
and threatened the victim. He took money from her hand and, using
her ATM card, withdrew additional cash. The assailant fled in an
unknown direction.
Police have made an arrest in the first case. One of the men
wanted for that robbery was seen on Dec. 27 by the victim who
alerted the Security Office. He was followed and kept under
observation by campus officers until police from the Northern
District arrested him at Greenmount Avenue and 31st Street. He
has been charged with robbery, possession of a deadly weapon and
drug possession.
If you have any information regarding either of these
incidents, please call Homewood Campus Security, at 516-4600, or
the Northern District, at 396-2455.
