========================================================= NOTICES ========================================================= A "New Year Health Day," sponsored by the Occupational Health Service and the Office of Benefits Administration, will be held Thursday, Jan. 19, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in room 113 of the Preclinical Teaching Building in East Bal-timore. "Health Day" wi ll offer free cholesterol and blood pressure screening, body composition analysis and other health-related information. The School of Continuing Studies is hosting an open house for the Certificate in Environmental Studies (offered through the Odyssey program) on Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in room 3, Shaffer Hall. Twenty-five names will be drawn at the open house for a free field trip led by Charles Stine. The Certificate in Environmental Studies, en-dorsed by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, is for individuals who want to become actively engaged in learning more about ecol-ogy, conservation, and environmental law and policy. The certificate i s useful to those with or without a science background. Guests at the open house will meet with Dr. Stine, as well as with other instructors and students currently enrolled. The second annual Baltimore Alumni Chap-ter Mid-Winter Ball will be held at the Peabody Library on Saturday, Feb. 18, from 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. All area alumni, faculty and staff are invited to attend. There will be music by Shades of Blue, an 18-piece bi g band; a raw bar; open bar; and cocktail buffet from Classic Catering People. Free parking will be available at the Pea-body Garage off of St. Paul Street. Cost for the ball is $50 per person for Alumni Association members and guests, and $60 per person for non-members.
