"Health Day," sponsored by the Occupational Health Service at Homewood, will offer free cholesterol and blood pressure screening, body composition analysis and other health-related information. Evergreen House seeks volunteers as week- day and weekend tour guides, hosts for special events, research assistants and museum shop staff. A preconception class, covering many aspects of prepregnancy care, will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 24, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Johns Hopkins Women's Health Center at the Galleria Towers in Lutherville. Cost of the class, which is sponsored by the John s Hopkins Nurse-Midwif-ery Service, is $10 for individuals, $15 for couples. Marylanders Against Handgun Abuse will hold a reception to announce its renewed commitment to reducing gun violence in Maryland, on Monday, Jan. 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Turner Auditorium Concourse at JHMI, 720 Rutland Ave. MAHA will also announce that Gov. Parris Glen-dening will be its new honorary chair and Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend will be the new honorary vice chair. Both have been invited to the reception.
