The 1998 Provost's Undergraduate Research Awards will provide a number of $2,500 grants to support original research, composition or performance projects next summer or fall. Freshmen, sophomores and juniors in Arts and Sciences, Engineering, Medicine and Nursing, and at Peabody, are eligible. The money can pay the cost of research or creative projects. Winners can receive up to $1,500 of the total award as a cash stipend or receive academic credit for the work. Applications are available at 207 Garland, or by calling 410-516-4587. The Louis Sudler Prize in the Arts is offering a $1,500 cash award to a graduating senior in Arts and Sciences or Engineering, or a fourth-year medical student, who can demonstrate excellence in performance, execution or composition in music, theater, dance, writing, painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, film or videotape. To compete, submit to Julia Morgan, 240 Garland, a faculty recommendation, examples of work done while at Hopkins, any other evidence of artistic achievement and a cover sheet.
