University Calendar for 1995-96 and 1996-97 The key dates for the university-wide calendarfor 1995-96 and 1996-97 are listed below. The calendar permits divisions to operate on either the semester or quarter basis while synchronizing the schedules for the benefit of interdivisional registrants. Instructional periods of one hour will begin on the half-hour in East Baltimore and Peabody and on the hour in Arts & Sciences and Engineering to allow time for transportation between campuses. Please note that, due to differing requirements of the academic divisions, there are some deviations to the following calendar, especially in regard to registration dates. Variations to the calendar are published each year by and are available from the academic divisions. Also, since the schools of Medicine and of Hygiene and Public Health operate on a quarter system, their published academic calendars should be used to determine the course starting dates for the second (November), third (January) and fourth (March) quarters. Consequently, dates for these quarters are not listed in the calendars presented below. ----------------- 1995-96 Calendar ----------------- Sept. 5, 6: Registration Sept. 7: Instruction begins for first quarter/semester for all divisions, except Hygiene and Public Health, whose first day of instruction is Sept. 8.
