Revised Academic Calendar for 1996-97 The registrar has revised basic key dates for the 1996-97 academic year. The new calendar reflects changes approved by the deans of Arts and Sciences and Engineering. Changes include an earlier start date for the spring semester to meet federal requirements for length of term. Other changes of note: 1) One day is added to the examination period in fall term. 2) Intersession is shortened by two days. 3) Spring registration is held Tuesday, Jan. 21, and Wednesday, Jan. 22. 4) The first day of classes is Thursday, Jan. 23. 5) The last day of classes is Friday, May 2. 6) The spring reading period is shortened to two days. 7) The seven-day spring examination period changes to Wednesday, May 7, through Wednesday, May 14.
