Jonathan Palevsky, Pre-Concert Speaker and Narrator
Jonathan Palevsky is Program Director of WBJC 91.5 FM, Baltimore’s Classical Music Station. He earned an undergraduate degree in musicology at Carleton University in Ottawa, and a masters in classical guitar performance at the Peabody Institute. In addition to his administrative duties at WBJC, he hosts much of the station’s classical programming, numerous community interviews, Face the Music, The WBJC Opera Fest, The WBJC Opera Preview, Past Masters, and Word on Wine. Since 1997, he has been WBJC’s intrepid traveler, leading station listeners on opera excursions to Australia and Western and Central Europe. He is a lecturer in the Johns Hopkins Odyssey Program and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes at both Johns Hopkins and Towson Universities, as well as a popular guest speaker throughout the region. He is a past president of the Association of Music Personnel in Public Radio. His current non-radio obsessions include hosting Cinema Sundays at the Charles Theatre, playing jazz guitar, skiing, and admiring mid-20th Century modern furniture.
