Todor Pelev, a native of Bulgaria, received his musical training at the Sofia Conservatory with Tatyana Krusteva and Boyan Lechev, at the Juilliard School with Dorothy DeLay, and at the Eastman School of Music with Donald Weilerstein. In 1976 he was awarded second prize in the Wieniawski International Competition for Young Violinists, and in 1982 he won first prize in Bulgaria's Svetoslav Obretenov National Violin Competition. Mr. Pelev has presented solo recitals and has appeared as solost with orchestras across Bulgaria. He has also performed for radio and television broadcasts in Bulgaria, Poland, and the Soviet Union.
He performs on the 1734 "ex Wilmotte" Stradivarius.
