Caleb Tsai

Caleb Tsai, as a youth in his home city of Hong Kong, won 21 prizes over ten years of participation in the Hong Kong Music Festival. His successes continued in 1973 when he won the premier prize, which included the Concerto Competition award, the Nancy Loo Scholarship, and the BOAC award.

Since coming to this country to study with Ellen Mack at the Peabody Conservatory of Music, Caleb Tsai's performances captured top prizes in the University of Maryland International William Kapell Piano Competition, the William Boyd Competition in Georgia, the Young Artists Competition in New York City, first place in the National Masters Piano Competition in Texas, and First Prize in the Peabody Concerto Competition. As a result, he has performed concertos with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center and the Peabody Symphony Orchestra, and he presented recitals in New York at the Bruno Walter Auditorium and the Carnegie Recital Hall.
