Ike's View of the '90s

An AltaVista search for "Dwight Eisenhower" turns up about 3,000 Web sites. We suggest starting at the Eisenhower Center at the University of Kansas, http://history.cc.ukans.edu/heritage/abilene/ikectr.html. Its links connect you to an Eisenhower Presidential Library site, http://sunsite.unc.edu/lia/president/eisenhower.html, and a listing of holdings from the archives of the Eisenhower Library in Abilene, http://history.cc.ukans.edu/heritage/abilene/holdings.html.

Another good set of links resides at the Presidential Libraries IDEA Network, http://sunsite.unc.edu/lia/president/pressites/
PresidentS-list2.html#DDE
. Here you'll find 10 more links to archives, biographical material, and even the Eisenhower Fitness Award.

For anyone interested in history, a fun stop on the Web is the History Buff's Home Page, http://www.serve.com/ephemera/historybuff.html. It is, to quote its introductory text, "devoted to newspaper printing and publishing history and American history in general. It includes an extensive, searchable, reference library of 19 different categories." It's the sort of site where you arrive intending to spend 15 minutes on a specific item, and two hours later realize you still haven't done what you went there for. Be sure to click on "History Sources Index." That'll take you to a fine listing of archives, historical exhibits, and other sites of interest.
