Empathy 101
By Keri Hicks '97

Keri Lynn Hicks is a 1997 graduate of the Johns Hopkins University. A Writing Seminars major and Women's Studies minor, she is finding herself unqualified for just about everything.

After teaching for Hopkins' IAAY young students writing programs for the summer, she is excited to begin not knowing what she wants to do with the rest of her life. Her plans include becoming a true Baltimore local, transitioning to life in the real world, and searching for just about anything that will pay the bills.

Keri's college life, as typical of college life, had in it too much beer and too many all-nighters. But her experiences as the director of the campus' sexual assault awareness program for more than two years, and as a peer crisis counselor, gave that life another, very personally rich, dimension. Because of the importance of those experiences, she plans, ultimately, to continue doing similar work.
