In 1890, geologist Harry Fielding Reid, A&S 1880, 1882 (PhD), discovered-and proudly named-the Johns Hopkins Glacier in Alaska's Glacier Bay. In August 2005, 20 alumni and friends cruised by the Johns Hopkins Glacier during an Alaskan expedition, one of 26 trips offered this year through the JHU Alumni Journeys travel program.
