Dear Parents:
It's hard to believe that four years have flown by so
fast! While we all have mixed feelings as we near the
end of our time at Hopkins, I know that something we all
look forward to is graduation day. Thus, it is my great
pleasure to invite you to join the Johns Hopkins
University Class of 2001 at our commencement exercises on
May 24, 2001 at 1:45 pm. The Undergraduate Diploma
Ceremony will take place on Garland Field and is expected
to last approximately two to two-and-a-half hours.
The University-wide Commencement Ceremony will be held at
9:15 am that same day but the 1:45 pm ceremony is
exclusively for undergraduates in the Zanvyl Krieger
School of Arts and Sciences and the G.W.C. Whiting School
of Engineering.
Enclosed is information about several local restaurants
and hotels. A number of these hotels offer discounts
over commencement week if you mention Hopkins' name. The
restaurants have been recommended and contacted by the
senior class officers and me. Many will begin accepting
reservations immediately for dinner the night before and
the night of graduation as well as lunch before the
Ceremony and several will offer discounts.
Please look for additional information regarding
commencement activities in the upcoming months.
Information will also soon be available online through
the University's website at
www.jhu.edu.
Graduation is as exciting an event for us as I know it is
for you. I sincerely hope you will be able to celebrate
with us.
Regards,
Margaret E. Richards
President, Class of 2001
