1999 Honorary Degree Recipients

The Johns Hopkins University will present honorary Doctor of Humane letters degrees at this year's commencement exercises to the following distinguished recipients:

James A. Van Allen, physicist and Regent Distinguished Professor at the University of Iowa

Mary Ellen Avery, pediatrician and educator and former Johns Hopkins University trustee

A. James Clark, trustee emeritus of The Johns Hopkins University, trustee of the Johns Hopkins Medicine board and chairman and president of The Clark Construction Group

Rev. Clyde R. Shallenberger, chaplain emeritus, Johns Hopkins Hospital

Finn M. W. Caspersen, chairman, Hodson Trust and former chairman and CEO of the Beneficial Corp.
