Bay Street Brassworks to Perform at Hopkins

The Johns Hopkins University Office of Special Events presents Bay Street Brassworks at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov.18, in the Glass Pavilion of the Levering Union, located on the university's Homewood campus, 3400 N. Charles St. in Baltimore.

Bay Street Brassworks, Baltimore's premiere brass quintet, performs a repertoire of light classics, ragtime, the blues, jazz, and Dixieland. Formed in 1995, the group has appeared regularly at the Peabody Conservatory; with the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Chorus and Towson University Chorus; and in the Pennsylvania Consorts Concert Series, Frostburg State University's Cultural Series, and WJZ-TV's Sunday morning news program. In addition, the quintet of two trumpets, horn, trombone, and tuba performed concerts and gave master classes to sold-out audiences during a 1999 three-city tour of South Korea. As part of its commitment to educating children, Bay Street Brassworks gives classes at both middle and high schools in the greater Baltimore and Eastern Shore areas.

Advance tickets are $17 for general admission; $14 for senior citizen/JHU staff with ID; and $10 for full-time students with ID. Tickets purchased at the door are $2 additional. Group discounts are available. To order tickets or for information, call the Office of Special Events at 410-516-7157.
