Social activist and former candidate for President, Ralph Nader, will be coming to the Homewood campus of the Johns Hopkins University on Thursday, June 26 to speak as part of a nationwide tour he is conducting to bring various social, civic, grassroots and other groups together. Organized by Nader's new group, Democracy Rising, and co- sponsored by the Johns Hopkins Student Labor Action Committee, the event on Thursday seeks to bring together a wide variety of social activists, community organizations and others for what Nader calls, "the cause of freeing American politics from the grip of corporate interests." The rally and speeches will be held at Shriver Hall, 3400 N. Charles Street, and it begins at 7 p.m. Organizers are charging $10 admission in advance and $15 at the door and say the money goes to Democracy Rising. Children under the age of 12 will be admitted for free. Nader is scheduled to speak about 8:45 p.m. For media interested in covering this event, or arranging an interview with Nader, please contact Jason Kafoury at 202-465-2764.
