The Johns Hopkins University Homewood Student Affairs Diversity Committee will unveil a sculpture in memory of Dr. Helen B. Taussig, a pioneer in the diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart disease. With Johns Hopkins colleagues, she helped to develop the surgical procedure commonly known as the "blue baby" operation and discovered the effects of the drug thalidomide when administered to pregnant women. Taussig earned her medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1927. For more information, contact 410-516-8283.
