Summerstage at Johns Hopkins Mattin Center

Dancers, actors and comedians are ready to entertain during a series of warm-weather performances known as SummerStage at the Mattin Center on The Johns Hopkins University's Homewood campus, 3400 N. Charles St. in Baltimore.

The low-price shows featuring local performers begin on Friday, June 4, and run through Saturday, June 26. All SummerStage performances will take place in the Swirnow Theater at the Mattin Center, located at the corner of Charles and 33rd streets. Political humor
The Loyal Opposition

Political satire takes center stage with The Loyal Opposition, a comedy review with stand-up and quick-witted improvisations of George W. Bush, John Kerry, Larry King, Colin Powell and Bill Clinton, among others. The talented ensemble features local performers and comedians including Bob Heck, Jim Nieb, Wes Johnson, Shari Elliker, Kevin Brown, Bob Garman, and Brad Dismukes. $10 general admission, $8 students and seniors.

A family dance concert featuring the DanseEnsemble and the talented young dancers of the Performance Ensembles of Baltimore Dance Tech. $7 general admission, $5 students and seniors.

Stephanie Powell Danse Ensemble

Celebrate the seventh anniversary of the DanseEnsemble, one of Baltimore's premier dance companies. Integrating the dance styles of ballet, modern and jazz, this company has inspired audiences in Maryland and across the country. The concert showcases the unique choreography of the company's director and founder, Stephanie Powell. $10 general admission, $8 students and seniors.

White Frost Falls

This play tells the tragicomic story of a Japanese noblewoman who is separated from her samurai husband. Unable to communicate directly with him, she writes a series of poetic messages, which she sends to her husband via her bumbling servant. Featuring both deaf and hearing actors, this exquisite piece of theater provides a rich cultural and visual experience. White Frost Falls is presented by Quest Productions and performed by acclaimed actors Shizumi, Mark Jaster and Willy Conley. $10 general admission, $8 students and seniors.

The Collective

The Baltimore-based modern dance company will present a diverse program of pieces, including a contemporary ballet performed to music by U2, a moving tribute to the comfort of friends, and a quirky take on TV sitcoms. Local dancers and choreographers have collaborated over several years to create The Collective. At this performance, they premiere new works and revive fan favorites. $10 general admission, $8 students and seniors.
