The Sun's Fashion Editor to Speak at Hopkins

Vida Roberts, fashion editor of The Sun, will give a talk on "Fashion Foundations" at The Johns Hopkins University on Wednesday, Feb. 15.

The lecture is part of the Wednesday Noon Series presented by the university's Office of Special Events. All programs in the series are held at noon in the Garrett Room of the Milton S. Eisenhower Library on the university's Homewood campus at 3400 N. Charles St. in Baltimore. Admission is free.

Roberts will discuss why American designers have decided that the 1990s woman needs to wear corsets, hobble skirts and high heels. Most won't, of course, but with some adjustments for comfort, will these fashions find their way into the mainstream?

In 1994, Roberts was honored at the Atrium Awards for excellence in reporting on the American garment industry for her feature story "Men in Skirts." She also received the George A. Hough III Award for overall superior reporting on the apparel industry.

For information, call the Office of Special Events at (410) 516-7157.
