Makem Brothers to Perform at HopkinsAlong with the brothers' tight three-part harmony, Shane plays the twelve-string guitar and bodhran, Conor plays bass, and Rory plays the five-string longneck banjo. The bazouki, mandolin, and concertina add texture to a sound that echoes of the folk tradition of their ancestors. But the energy of the Makem Brothers invents a certain revision to their musical heritage; their unique sound is accessible to both MTV-raised "twenty- somethings" and simultaneously, to their parents who remember the original performances of The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem. After finishing a recent tour that took the trio from the Canadian Maritimes to Los Angeles, they returned to their home in New Hampshire to record their second album, The Makem Brothers On the Rocks. This CD has just been released on the Red Biddy label. Tickets are $16 general admission with senior citizen, student, and group rates available.
