Fritz Schroeder to Head Alumni Relations
Fritz Schroeder, director of annual giving at The Johns
Hopkins University, has
been appointed to lead the university's alumni
relations program as well. His new title will be executive
director of alumni
relations and annual programs.

"Fritz Schroeder is a natural choice to direct alumni
relations," said Robert R.
Lindgren, vice president for development and alumni relations.
"During his four years as
director of annual giving, he has shown a remarkable
understanding of our alumni and
an outstanding ability to motivate both staff and volunteers.
"Fritz's leadership will benefit both offices, each of which
plays a crucial role with
our alumni," Lindgren said.
Schroeder will manage an alumni relations staff of 14
focusing on activities and
services for the nearly 100,000 alumni of the university's eight
schools. The office also
organizes programs for faculty, students, parents and friends of
the university. There are
40 regional alumni chapters in 24 states and Washington, D.C.,
and in France, Germany,
Japan, South Korea, Thailand and Taiwan. The staff also
coordinates the 140-member
Alumni Council, the governing body of the Alumni Association,
which represents all of
the academic divisions.
The Office of Annual Giving, which Schroeder will continue
to direct, has a staff
of 20 that coordinates annual giving efforts for the schools and
for Johns Hopkins
Medicine. The office also manages the Hopkins Fund, the annual
giving effort of the
university's arts and sciences and engineering schools.
Before joining Johns Hopkins in 1996, Schroeder worked at
the University of
Maryland, College Park, in development and alumni relations. He
is a frequent faculty
member for seminars sponsored by the Council for the Advancement
and Support of
A 1989 graduate of James Madison University, Schroeder
earned an M.B.A. in
marketing from the University of Maryland, College Park.
In the alumni office, Schroeder succeeds Erv Sekulow, a 1959
who stepped down in December after 24 years as a senior member of
development and alumni relations staff.
