In July of 2011 I decided to take another workshop with Andy Cook. This one was a short
weekend workshop to Rocky Mountain National Park. I convinced Rich McPeters to join me as
well as my brother Bob. We stayed on the outskirts of the park at Nicki's in Estes Park.
The workshop began by meeting with Andy on Friday evening and then getting up early to
head up to Bear Lake for a morning of photography. That afternoon we hike up to a waterfall
and rushing river (can't remember the name) to learn to photograph rushing water. Looking
at the pictures a decade later I think that I didn't really figure it out very well. Sunday
morning we again got up before sunrise and headed to Sprague Lake to set up at one end of
the lake and wait for the morning sun to illuminate the mountains surrounding the lake. The
morning indeed turned out to be glorious with spectacularly illuminated peaks. On the
way back down from the park we stopped along the road to photograph another rushing creek.
We finished up back in a meadow where we took a picture of distant peak between two slanted
trees. I also was able to catch a growing lenticular cloud over the distant mountain.
