Undergraduate Arts and Sciences & Engineering Ceremony

The Arts and Sciences and Engineering Undergraduate Ceremony will be held on the afternoon of Thursday, May 22. Those eligible to participate are undergraduates in the Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences who have completed requirements for a B.A. or B.S., and those undergraduates in the G.W.C. Whiting School of Engineering who have completed requirements for a B.A. or a B.S. in an Engineering Discipline — including the Bachelors in the Part-time Program. Recipients will be called to the stage in alphabetical order by School (Engineering followed by Arts and Sciences).

Date: Thursday, May 22, 2008

Time: Degree recipients must report to robing locations by 12:30 p.m. as outlined below. The Processional will begin at 1:25 p.m. and the ceremony will begin at 1:45 p.m.

Place: The ceremony will take place on Homewood Field

Cap & Gown: Your cap and gown will be shipped directly to the address you provided when it was ordered. If you missed the March 28th and April 4th ordering deadlines, extras will be available from the Barnes and Noble Johns Hopkins Bookstore at 3300 St. Paul Street, Homewood, beginning Saturday, May 17th at 10:00 am. These extras will be distributed on a first come first served basis. There is a $20.00 late fee for each order. No reservations, phone or fax orders will be accepted.

Diploma Distribution: Immediately following the ceremony until 5:00 pm in the Goldfarb Gymnasium of the Newton H. White Athletic Center

Robing and Processional: All candidates will march by School, in alphabetical order, from the Ralph S. O'Connor Recreation Center to the south entrance to Homewood Field.

Severe Weather Plan

Unless there are severe weather conditions (torrential rain, and/or lightning) the ceremony will be held outdoors on Homewood Field. If severe weather conditions develop that make it unsafe to continue the ceremony outside, you may be directed to proceed to the Goldfarb Gymnasium in the Newton White Athletic Center to pick up your diploma.

If it becomes necessary to cancel the afternoon ceremony, an announcement will be made no later than 12:00 noon on the University website, (www.jhu.edu) and the Weather Emergency Line, (410-516-7781). If this plan is implemented, graduates may pick up their diplomas in the Goldfarb Gymnasium in the Newton White Athletic Center from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. After picking up diplomas, graduates should meet their parents in the lobby of the Ralph S. O�Connor Recreation Center, where the president, volunteers and staff will be on hand to greet them.
