January 2009
Dear Parents:
It is my sincere pleasure, on behalf of the
Class of 2009, to request your attendance at
our commencement ceremonies, as we celebrate and
reflect on a memorable four years at Johns Hopkins.
Spending this momentous occasion with our
families and friends means so much to us graduates,
because we recognize and value the important
contributions you have made to usas well as
the sacrifices you have made for us.
The Johns Hopkins University Commencement
will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2009. The
day begins with the University-wide
Commencement at 9:15 a.m. and is followed
by the undergraduate ceremony at 1:45 p.m.
In the morning, all the degrees will be
officially conferred after an address by
President Ronald J. Daniels. In the afternoon,
the graduates of the Zanvyl Krieger School of
Arts and Sciences and the G.W.C. Whiting School
of Engineering will be invited on stage to
shake hands with President Daniels and the
respective deans of their schools.
I hope you will attend both ceremonies and
witness the rich tradition of Hopkins Commencement.
Please note that the processions will begin
20 minutes prior to each ceremony, so I
advise you to arrive early to secure your seats.
We look forward to sharing our big day
with you as your support and encouragement
have been so critical to our arrival at
this exciting juncture.

President, Class of 2009
