The small finds group at work.
The small finds group at work.

The small finds group is joined today by Marina who arrived last night. She will be working with Darcy drawing small finds and helping the others learn to draw pottery. Ashley is leading this group most ably as they work during the day to identify, record, and photograph the objects. Back at the hotel they catalogue each in the database so that we have a comprehensive idea of what has been found each year. Next to them Darcy and Marina draw many of the finds.

Afaf and Maggie work on skeleton Burial 2. Skeleton Burial 2.
Alaf and Maggie. Over at trench VIII G East 11, the exploration of Burial 2 (affectionately known as “Legs Up”, thanks to Roxie) continues. Afaf and Maggie are beginning the removal of arm bones and are pleased that they are remaining largely intact. We have a last shot of the whole team, including the gufti Yasin (who originally discovered the burial in 2012) and his two workers.

Inspector Zahra.

Last today is our new Inspector, Zahra, who also worked with us in 2011. A lovely lady who has just completed her Masters degree. Congratulations!
