Support Group for Graduate Women -- A small group of graduate women will meet on Friday afternoons to unwind, share accomplishments and frustrations, offer support and encouragement and build friendship across disciplines.

Graduate women who sometimes feel isolated and would like to know graduate women in other departments, and who would welcome some encouragement while in graduate school, should consider joining.

Free Screening for Leg Pain -- As part of "Legs for Life," a national screening week for peripheral vascular disease leg pain, a free screening for PVD is being offered on Tuesday, Sept. 14, from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. in the Conference Room, Pavilion 2, Greenspring Station, 10755 Falls Rd. Screenings are by appointment only.

Run for Cancer -- The first annual 5K Run for Cancer will take place on Saturday, Sept. 18, starting at 9 a.m. The race, which benefits the American Cancer Society, will start outside Garland Hall on the Homewood campus. Volunteers are needed to help pass out water and keep people on course, as well as to help register people and hand out informational packets. For details, call 410-662-9011.

Give Blood -- Faculty, Staff and Retiree Programs and the American Red Cross are sponsoring a blood drive on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 21 and 22, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Glass Pavilion on the Homewood campus. For information, call 410-516-0138.

Hospice Volunteer Opportunities -- Johns Hopkins Home Hospice is looking for volunteers for a nonprofit home hospice program providing care to patients and families during the end stages of a terminal illness.

Volunteers are needed for direct patient service, bereavement care services and administrative support. The next training and orientation session will begin in October. For information, call the volunteer coordinator, Jean McHale, at 410-288-4692.

Open House for Creative Writers -- An open house with instructors and current students for the Odyssey Creative Writing Program is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 21, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., in 3 Shaffer on the Homewood campus. For more information or to R.S.V.P., call 410-516-4842.

Orioles at Camden Yards -- The Office of Faculty, Staff and Retiree Programs is sponsoring "Hopkins Night at Camden Yards."
