Intersession Instructors -- Instructors are needed for the 2002 Intersession minicourse program, Jan. 7 through 25. Applications are available in the Student Life Office in the Mattin Center or by calling 410-516-2224. Deadline for application is Nov. 5.


Certificate in Nonprofit Studies Program -- The Johns Hopkins Institute for Policy Studies is now accepting applications for its spring classes in the Certificate in Nonprofit Studies Program. This part-time program is designed to develop and enhance the knowledge and practical skills that nonprofit staff and volunteers need to run a successful organization. Classes begin January 2002. Career Workshop -- This interactive three-session workshop is intended to help identify an individual's career options by clarifying their interests, strengths, skills and work values. Sign up in advance at the Counseling Center for the workshop which is offered repeatedly throughout the academic year. For information, call Sara Maggitti, 410-516-8278.


JHU Butterball Turkey Program -- Help provide Thanksgiving dinners to families in need. Donations of $15 will purchase a Butterball gift certificate to help an indigent family purchase a turkey or other food items for the holiday. To participate, send a $15 check, made payable to JHU Butterball to Eden Blum, Office of Faculty, Staff and Retiree Programs, third floor, Evergreen House.


Editorial Fellowship Available -- The Johns Hopkins Magazine is now accepting applications for the Corbin Gwaltney '43 Fellowship for the spring 2002 semester. The recipient will work closely with the staff members of the magazine, nationally recognized for its excellence in writing and design, throughout the spring semester. The fellow will gain firsthand instruction and experience in feature writing (covering science, public policy, the arts and humanities, and medicine), copy editing, editorial planning and production, advertising and design. The fellowship, which requires at least 15 hours of work each week, carries with it a $1,500 stipend.

The fellowship is open to both graduate students and undergraduates. Candidates should have demonstrated experience and/or interest in the field of magazine journalism. To apply, send a cover letter, resume, three writing samples (published or unpublished) as well as a brief feature story proposal to Johns Hopkins Magazine, Fellows Program, Suite 100, 3003 N. Charles St., Baltimore, MD 21218. Deadline for applications is Tuesday, Nov. 20.
