Charity Basketball -- "Hoops for
Awareness," a charity 3-on-3 basketball tournament, will be
held Saturday, March 9, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the
athletic center on the Homewood campus. The event will
provide an opportunity to communicate the importance of
breast cancer prevention, treatment and research. Proceeds
and donations will go to fund the Johns Hopkins Breast
Center.
In addition, there will be food, drinks, display tables
and various prizes awarded to teams and spectators,
including a grand prize to the tournament champions. Women
and men are invited to come play, cheer and support a worthy
cause. Registration for teams is $15 and ends Thurs., March
7. The event is sponsored by the Breast Center and the Alpha
Kappa Delta Phi Sorority Inc.

Maryland Spinal Cord Injury Research Grants Program
-- The State Board of Spinal Cord Injury Research is seeking
proposals that can be translated into direct therapeutic
benefits, particularly involving research focused on basic,
preclinical and clinical research to restore neurological
function in individuals with spinal cord injuries.
Award amount and duration are up to $300,000 in direct
costs and indirect costs for up to three years based on
merit and board approval. Independent investigators and
ethnic minorities are encouraged to apply. The deadline for
application is June 3.

Stop Smoking Class -- A "Stop Smoking" class for JHU
faculty and staff will be held on six consecutive Thursdays
beginning April 4, from 1 to 2 p.m., on the Homewood campus.
