Relay for Life -- The 2003 University Relay for Life
has been canceled. The all-night team relay to raise money
to fight cancer and increase cancer awareness had been
scheduled for April 25 and 26. For information on other

Low-Impact Exercise and West African Dance Classes --
The O'Connor Recreation Center is introducing a new class
for Homewood employees. PACE, for People with Arthritis Can
Exercise, provides a nonimpact, low-intensity workout. Led
by an Arthritis Foundation-trained instructor, the gentle
workout is designed to increase mobility and range of
motion.
The classes are appropriate for individuals with
arthritis, fibromyalgia and osteoporosis and for those
recovering from surgery. Classes are from 11:15 a.m. to
noon on Thursdays. The fee is $30 for 10 weeks. Doctor's
clearance is required.
West African dance classes led by the Sankofa Dance
Theater continue. With live drumming and expert
instruction, this energetic class is a journey through
culture, spirituality and physicality. The classes meet
from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. on Mondays. Participants must have
or buy a fitness pass ($37.50 staff, $20 students for the
remainder of the semester), which includes 10 weeks of
unlimited fitness classes.

Ballroom Night -- The Johns Hopkins Ballroom Dance
Club's Spring Ballroom Night is scheduled for 7:30 to 11
p.m. on Saturday, March 22, in the Great Hall at Levering,
Homewood campus. Included will be a beginning hustle
workshop, a ballroom dance performance and all styles of
social dancing. Admission is $5, beverage included. For

Overeaters Anonymous -- A 12-step self-help recovery
group is beginning on March 19. The sessions, which require
no dues or fees, will take place from noon to 1 p.m. on
Wednesdays in 161 Mattin Center on the Homewood campus. For

Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month -- To increase
awareness of colorectal cancer, a series of Johns Hopkins
Colon Cancer Awareness Week events is scheduled on the East
Baltimore campus. The Johns Hopkins community is invited to
pick up literature, see a video display, ask staff
questions about the risk for colon cancer and have a
healthy apple snack.
Activities are scheduled for Monday through Friday.
March 17, 19 and 21 events will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the
Broadway Corridor, next to JHH Cafeteria; March 18 and 20
events, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at JHOC, corridor level.
Participants who complete a colon cancer risk survey will
be entered in a drawing for prizes.
Colon Cancer Awareness Week is sponsored by the
Hopkins Colon
Cancer Center and the Johns Hopkins Hereditary
Colorectal Cancer Program.
