Spring Semiannual Inspections -- The spring semiannual facilities inspection by the Animal Care and Use Committee is scheduled for May 1 to May 14. All animal use areas will be inspected. A knowledgeable individual should be available to answer questions. In some cases the committee may wish to review records.

Biennial Meeting and SOM Reunion Weekend -- The Johns Hopkins Medical and Surgical Association biennial meeting and School of Medicine reunion weekend will take place May 1 to 4. All Medicine staff, faculty and alumni, including former house staff, faculty and postgraduate fellows, are invited to participate in the weekend's events, which include continuing medical education.

Cooley Open Golf Tournament -- Sign up for the third annual Cooley Open Golf Tournament on Friday, May 16. The format will be four-person best-ball. The cost is $25 per player. The fee includes greens fee, cart and giveaway item.

Prizes will be awarded to the winning team (low score), longest drive and closest to the pin.

The tournament will be held at the Clifton Park Golf Course. All player fees must be submitted by 10:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 30, at the Cooley Center.

Media Forum -- The Pew International Journalism Programs invites the Hopkins community to be part of a two-day forum on May 15 and 16, examining what the news media can do to engage young audiences. Scheduled events include panel discussions and breakout interactive sessions moderated by senior producers and editors, as well as a showcase of video and photojournalism created by young people.

Speakers include Lowell Bergman, New York Times Television; Don Belt, National Geographic; Tom Bettag, ABC News Nightline; Matt Catapono, MTV; Steve Inskeep, National Public Radio; Lisa Mullins, The World (PRI/BBC); Sharon Tiller, Frontline/ World (PBS/WGBH); and Joan Walsh, Salon.com.

Managing Photographs, Files and Other University Assets -- An effort is under way to help Johns Hopkins departments and offices have a way to manage photographs, slides and virtually any other type of asset that can be digitized.

A pilot program comprising users from academic departments, libraries, administration and public affairs offices is now testing a Web-based system for storing, cataloging, sharing and teaching with a variety of important files, from photographs and reports to pdfs and spreadsheets.
