J Street Jumpers to Bring Swing to Glass
Pavilion
The J Street Jumpers will put some swing into Sunday
afternoon when the group performs at 4 p.m. on April 11 in
Levering Union's Glass Pavilion, Homewood campus.
The sound of the J Street Jumpers — one of the
East Coast's most popular swing bands — restores the
classic swing and jump-blues of the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s
and adds the swing of Count Basie, the beat of Buddy
Johnson, the New Orleans lilt of Fats Domino and the
passion of Dinah Washington. From all of these, the group
has distilled its own brand of modern swing. Based in the
Washington, D.C., area, the J Street Jumpers earned in 2003
for the sixth year in a row the titles of Best Big Band-
Swing Duo/Group, Best Big Band-Swing Recording and Best
Jazz at the Washington Area Music Association's Wammie
Awards.
This event is co-sponsored by the
Center for Social

admission tickets are $15 in advance and $17 on the day of
the performance. For information, call Special Events at
