Fallingwater Tour
Spaces are available on a day trip to the Frank Lloyd
Wright masterpiece Fallingwater. The trip is scheduled for
Tuesday, June 8, and the bus will leave Evergreen House
promptly at 7:30 a.m., returning at approximately 7:30 p.m.

and nature. The recently restored house is also home to a
collection of paintings and sculpture by prominent Mexican
artists of the 20th century.
The trip, open to all faculty, staff, students,
retirees and their guests, costs $47. Lunch at the
Fallingwater pavilion cafe is included. To reserve a space,
mail checks or money orders, payable to JHU Retiree Trip,

JHU Jobs for High-Schoolers
The Discovering Careers Summer Youth Employment Program at
Johns Hopkins provides an excellent opportunity for faculty
and staff support to Baltimore City high school students.
By providing mentorship, quality experiences and a chance
to perform learning-rich assignments in this six-week,
30-hour-per-week summer job program, departments can
provide a youth with the opportunity to acquire or practice
workplace know-how, as well as the motivation to meet
academic expectations, earn a high school diploma and enter
meaningful employment or further schooling. Students are
paid by the Mayor's Office of Employment Development.
The students in this program have been preselected
from participants in the year-round FUTURES program at six
Baltimore City high schools. Discovering Careers at JHU is
part of the Office of Employment Development's YouthWorks
summer employment program.
The program will run from Monday, July 5, through
Friday, Aug. 13. Departments interested in one or more
student employees should submit the online Summer Youth
Employee Requisition Form. A link to the form can be found
on the Discovering Careers Web page at
www.jhu.edu/hr/fsrp/disc_car.html.
For more information, e-mail Matthew Smith, the
program's coordinator, or call him at 410-516-0345.
