Author and literary critic William H. Pritchard will give the Percy Graeme Turnbull Memorial Poetry Lecture at 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, in 110 Maryland Hall on the Homewood campus. He will speak on Randall Jarrell's poetry.

William H. Pritchard, Henry Clay Folger Professor of English at Amherst College, is the author of, among many other works, Updike: America's Man of Letters (2000), Talking Back to Emily Dickinson and Other Essays (1998), English Papers: A Teaching Life (1995), Randall Jarrell: A Literary Life (1990), Frost: A Literary Life Reconsidered (1984), Lives of the Modern Poets (1980) and Wyndham Lewis (1968). His most recent book of essays and reviews is Shelf Life, published last year.

The Turnbull Poetry Lecture, given through the generosity of a gift made in 1889 in memory of Percy Graeme Turnbull (1878-87), has brought to Homewood some of the most distinguished voices in American poetry and criticism, including Robert Frost, T.S. Eliot, Marianne Moore, W.H. Auden, Charles Eliot Norton, R.P. Blackmur, Northrop Frye, W.S. Merwin and Harold Bloom.
