The Whiting School of Engineering turned out in full force on Sept. 10 to welcome its new dean, Nick Jones, at a schoolwide picnic held on the Wyman Quadrangle. The hungry crowd of faculty, staff and students, estimated at more than 700, enjoyed beautiful weather, great food and bluegrass music while getting the chance to meet — or renew acquaintance with — Jones, former chair of the Civil Engineering Department, who was returning to Johns Hopkins after two years at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
